Nothing gives me greater pleasure than feeding family and friends gathered round my table. I have been entertaining for over twenty years, sometimes for just a handful of friends at weekends but sometimes for grander occasions
I have no formal training as a cook (So that’s something I have in common with Delia!) yet I’ve eaten many meals cooked by so-called qualified chefs which at best could be described as average, and sometimes just downright dreadful. Sadly this happens far too often. If I am paying for the privilege of being cooked for, I expect it to be at least as good as I can cook myself.

I have a reputation for being fussy about my food but it’s because I usually cook using fresh ingredients and rarely buy “ready meals”. Subsequently, when I occasionally do open a microwave meal or tin of soup, the first thing I notice is the smell of additives and synthetic ingredients. More often than not I am disappointed – even by the more so-called exclusive ranges of freshly prepared supermarket meals that I occasionally buy (but only if they are half price!)
I love what I do now; I get to travel, meet so many interesting people and no two weeks are the same! |
